The tourist that walks through Salsomaggiore can find endless corners in which to relax and to enjoy the contact with nature, so much that Salso is also known as the "city-garden". In Salso downtown there are many boutiques and cafés, in which the tourist can wait for the moment to dine in one of the famous pizzerias of Salso or in a restaurant that proposes the classical dishes of Italian kitchen.

Taking a walk in Salsomaggiore, it's also possible to meet some artistic testimonies of great relief:

• Berzieri thermal spa: thermal spa and symbol of the city, it enchants for the majesty that remembers the time of the "Belle époque". It's the work of the architect Ugo Giusti and the painter Galileo Chini, the decorations are an unique example of the refinement and the variety of Liberty style.
• Grand Hotel of Thermes: the most famous and refined hotel of Salsomaggiore at the beginning of 20th Century, today it's a congress hall. Among its illustrious guests there are the Queen Margherita of Savoy, the poet Gabriele D'Annunzio, the tenor Caruso and the actress Eleonora Duse. A visit of the Great Hotel must include the Caryatids hall, the "Moresco" (in the photo above) hall and the Red Tavern, entirely in Liberty and Deco styles.
• "Palazzina Warowland": a building near Berzieri spa, it was built in Middle-Age Lombard style. Today it is the center of the tourist information office.
• Mazzini Park: it's the main park of Salsomaggiore, in which you can admire exemplaires of sequoias, ginkos, cedars, yews and maples. There is also a nice little pond inspired to the oriental tradition (in the photo), with a wooden bridge and kiosk.

If you want to visit the surroundings of Salso, you can't miss the castles and the park of the Stirone river.
